Michelin CrossClimate 3 and CrossClimate 3 Sport: A New Era for All-Season Tires

Michelin CrossClimate 3 and CrossClimate 3 Sport: A New Era for All-Season Tires

Michelin has delighted the driving community with the recent launch of 2 new ranges: CrossClimate 3 and CrossClimate 3 Sport. These latest additions redefine all-season performance, bringing meaningful upgrades in terms of wet handling, steering precision, and treadwear.

What makes CrossClimate3 (CC3) and CrossClimate3 Sports (CC3 Sport) stand out? How do they differ from their predecessor, the CrossClimate 2? And when will they be available on the market? - Find the answers in this section.

CrossClimate 3: The Evolution of a Best-Seller

The CrossClimate 2 has stood out over the years for its excellent snow performance in the all-season tire segment. It was, and still is, the top product in the Michelin catalog, competing with dignity alongside dedicated winter tires on ICE, hybrid, and electric cars.

However, wet grip and treadwear proved to be more of a drawback than an advantage for the CrossClimate 2. Independent ratings and reviews confirmed that, although respectable, wet performance and wear didn't lead the segment, which for Michelin was nothing but a challenge.

More than a revolution, the new CC3 is an evolution of the CC2, addressing the areas where the latter fell short: improved wear and more mature wet performance. At the same time, Michelin has retained the main strengths of the CC2 in the CC3, such as low rolling resistance, dependable snow traction, and excellent road feedback. These improvements make the CC3 and CC3 Sport a confident choice for all-season performance.

✅ CC3 Key Points:

  • 4% improved grip on the wet compared to CrossClimate 2
  • 15% longer lifespan compared to CrossClimate 2
  • Keeps a high level of energy efficiency
  • Adapts to all-weather conditions
  • Is Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMSF)-certified, still expected to rank among the best in snow grip in the all-season segment

Michelin CrossClimate 2 vs CrossClimate 3: Snow Performance

There is growing curiosity about whether Michelin has compromised snow performance in the CC3 to address wear and wet grip. According to official data from TÜV SÜD and DEKRA, the answer is a solid no. The CC3 maintains a similar level of snow traction as the CC2, with only a negligible difference. However, the wet performance of the CC3 is a noticeable improvement over its predecessor.
