This model is a premium ultra-high performance summer tire developed especially for people who are looking to combine short braking distances and solid cornering traction with fuel efficiency and long tread life.
The ContiSportContact 5 comes with an advanced Continental's Black Chilli compound molded into an asymmetric tread design combined with a macro-block outboard shoulder designed to adapt to the road surface for enhanced road adherence and cornering stability. To promote steering response and straight-line tracking the tire uses a continuous center rib and notched intermediate ribs. For safety reasons, this model presents four wide circumferential and lateral grooves to increase the water dispersion from under the tire footprint thus managing the hydroplaning risk.
All we know is that the heated tires show good performance in terms of braking and cornering. So, ContiSportContact 5 SSR's Black Chilli compound's short-chain polymers react to braking forces by building heat to shorten braking distance on wet and dry roads, while the compound's long-chain polymers release the absorbed energy more efficiently at constant speeds to reduced rolling resistance.
The ContiSportContact 5 model is also available with Continental's SSR system. It is a run-flat technology developed by Continental that is based on a self-supporting reinforced sidewall. In case of a puncture, this prevents the sidewall from being crushed between the rim and the road. Best of all, this model is designed in a wide range of sizes with rim diameters from 17 to 22-inch sizes, backed by a limited tread warranty.
