Shop Summer Tires

Summer tires are engineered for both dry and wet grip, with tread designs that channel water away from the contact patch to resist hydroplaning. The real limiting factor is cold, not wet -  a summer tire on a rainy 60°F day will outperform one on a dry 30°F day every time.

Not recommended. Mismatched speed ratings mean mismatched performance limits side to side or axle to axle, which can affect handling balance and, in some cases, void part of the tire's performance warranty. If you're replacing fewer than four, match the speed rating of the tires you're keeping, not just the size.

 Yes. New tires carry a thin layer of mold-release lubricant from manufacturing that cuts grip for roughly the first 300–500 miles. Performance and summer compounds are especially sensitive during that window -  hard acceleration or cornering too soon can cause uneven wear that never fully corrects itself.

 Most do -  typically a mileage-based warranty, prorated if the tire wears out before the stated distance. Coverage and terms vary by manufacturer, and high-performance summer lines often carry shorter or no treadwear warranty at all, since they're built for grip over longevity. Check the specific listing's warranty terms rather than assuming a number applies.

One thing worth checking either way: many performance vehicles run a staggered setup, with a different -  usually wider -  size on the rear than the front. Confirm both sizes before ordering rather than assuming a single size covers the whole car.

2/32" (1.6mm) is the common legal minimum, but wet-weather grip and hydroplaning resistance start dropping off well before that -  many drivers replace performance summer tires closer to 4/32" to keep full wet-traction performance rather than waiting for the legal cutoff.

 Speed rating and intended use -  daily performance versus track or competition -  drive most of the spread within a single size. A Y- or Z-speed-rated tire built for repeated hard cornering costs more to manufacture than an H- or V-rated tire aimed at everyday spirited driving, even at an identical size. Match the spec to how you'll actually drive it, not just the price tag.
