Firestone FD690 Plus
This model is a single/tandem drive position tire developed for multiple commercial uses to show performance in terms of traction, grip, uniform tread wear, safety, and casing durability. It is designed to be used in long haul service, regional haul service, and P&D applications.
The FD690 Plus model comes with an innovative cap/base tread compound molded into an open shoulder tread pattern that presents a solid shoulder design for better pressure distribution providing increased mileage, adherence, and high traction in mud and snow. These solid shoulders combined with an aggressive center lug promote powerful traction in both wet and dry roads. The Firestone engineers use advanced cap/base compounding that combines a slow-wearing tread compound and cool running compound on the base to increase the casing performance.
For safety reasons, this model has optimized three-belt construction designed to reduce casing penetrations for enhanced retreadability. A special wide central channel together with many tread grooves provide high aquaplaning resistance by better water and slush evacuation from under the tire contact patch, providing the best braking performance. Tie-bars guarantee uniform wear combating the irregular tread wear by controlling movement of center tread blocks.
Firestone FD690 Plus is available in 19.5, 22.5, and 24.5-inch sizes, with 19/32”, 20/32”, and 29/32” tread depth, being one of the best single/tandem drive position tire options for a wide range of commercial vehicles used in goods transportation and construction applications.
