This model is an advanced fuel-efficient drive position tire developed for tandem-axle applications providing high performance in commercial use in terms of fuel usage, traction, uniform tread wear, load safety, and casing durability. It is designed to be used in long and regional haul applications.
The FD691 model comes with a SmartWay verified and CARB Compliant tread compound molded into a high rigidity tread pattern that presents a large footprint for better pressure distribution providing increased mileage, excellent grip, outstanding traction, and more lateral stability as well. Due to the latest technologies used by Firestone engineers, especially the NANO-TECH COMPOUND, this model shows low energy loss by improved rolling resistance.
For safety reasons, this model has innovative sidewall technology designed to reduce overall tire weight, thus improving fuel efficiency without sacrificing casing durability. Special tread groove geometry combined with flow-through pattern provides high aquaplaning resistance by better water and slush evacuation from under the tire contact patch, providing the best braking performance. The tire has special tie bars designed to control the movement of the center and second tread blocks for improved mileage and rolling resistance.
