How to Choose Heritage Tires

Choose Heritage tires by matching the RidgeRunner model to your terrain intensity. The Heritage lineup available across major retailers centers on three RidgeRunner variants: the A/T-X (all-terrain), R/T-X (rugged terrain), and M/T (mud terrain)- all built for light trucks, Jeeps, and SUVs.

  • Step 1 - Start with how far the vehicle goes off pavement: The RidgeRunner A/T-X is designed for light trucks and SUVs needing traction across varied terrain, with angled tread blocks and open shoulders that self-clean across mud, dirt, rocks, sand, water, and snow. It suits drivers who split time between paved roads and moderate off-road use. The RidgeRunner R/T-X targets rocky, hard, and uneven terrain specifically, with stone ejectors built in to protect the casing during off-road use. The RidgeRunner M/T is built for mud terrain performance, with deep biting edges and a self-cleaning tread pattern designed for soft, loose, and uneven surfaces.
  • Step 2 - Respect the M/T's highway limitation: The RidgeRunner M/T is not designed for regular highway driving. Drivers who spend significant time on pavement should select the A/T-X or R/T-X. The M/T is the right choice only when mud, deep dirt, or extreme off-road conditions are the primary use case - not as a general upgrade.
  • Step 3 - Distinguish R/T-X from A/T-X by terrain type, not severity: Both handle off-road conditions, but they target different surfaces. The A/T-X is tuned for versatile mixed-surface use, including wet and winter conditions on and off road. The R/T-X focuses on rocky, hard, and uneven terrain with more emphasis on casing protection and hard-surface grip. If the primary environment is rocky trails, the R/T-X is the more specific fit; if the driving is genuinely mixed, the A/T-X is the safer choice.
  • Step 4 - Confirm load range against vehicle requirements: All three RidgeRunner models are LT-rated and available in Load Range E and F. Confirm the required load range against your vehicle's GVWR before selecting a size — do not select by size alone.

Heritage's RidgeRunner lineup is terrain-driven. The three models are not interchangeable or incremental - each targets a distinct surface type, and selecting the wrong one for the actual use case will affect both performance and tire life.

Popular Heritage RidgeRunner Sizes for Light Trucks & SUVs

Heritage RidgeRunner tires are available in standard LT and high-flotation sizes targeting light trucks, Jeeps, and off-road SUVs. Common sizes across the lineup include:

  •  LT265/70R17 - standard light truck fitment for vehicles like the Toyota Tacoma and Ford F-150. Available in the RidgeRunner A/T-X and R/T-X.
  •  LT275/65R18 - common on mid-size and full-size trucks. Available in the RidgeRunner R/T-X.
  •  33X12.50R17 and  33X12.50R20 - popular fitments for Jeep Wrangler and lifted light trucks. Available across all three RidgeRunner models.
  •  35X12.50R18 and  35X12.50R20 - larger off-road fitments for lifted builds. Available across all three models.
  •  37X12.50R20 - available in the RidgeRunner R/T-X for more aggressive builds.

Heritage RidgeRunner sizes are concentrated in off-road and high-flotation fitments rather than standard OEM replacement sizes. Size coverage varies between the A/T-X, R/T-X, and M/T at the larger diameter ranges, so confirming availability in your specific size before purchasing is recommended.
