Kumho History 

Kumho Tire Co. Inc. is a South Korean tire manufacturer with headquarters in Gwangju, South Korea. The Kumho was founded by Park In-chon in 1960 as Samyang Tire. Besides three manufacturing facilities in South Korea: Gwangju Plant, Gokseong Plant, and the Pyeongtaek Plant Kumho has also one in Macon, Georgia, United States. For the U.S. market, there is also a center for research and development in Akron, Ohio. 

Kumho cares a lot about the relationship with its partners. The reason why all its partnerships are very long-lasting ones.  

  • In 2007, Kumho became a Platinum Partner of the Manchester United Football Club.  

  •  The relationship between Kumho and the NBA began in 2014 when Kumho Tire became a partner. 

  •  The Korean company was the sponsor of the European Formula 3 racing and nowadays is one of the sponsors of the La Liga. 

  • In 2018 it became a member of tire manufacturer Doublestar.
