Initially, the company produced shoe heels, tennis balls, floor covering, and boots. This company was founded in 1909, headquartered in Enschede. Due to globalization, in the 1970s the Dutch company increasingly came to focus on the car, agricultural, industrial, and two-wheeler tires.
In 2009, Vredestein was acquired by Apollo Tires Ltd, and the company name was changed to Apollo Vredestein B.V. It is represented by over 15 offices worldwide among which Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Switzerland, and the United States.
At the beginning of 2020, this brand announced that 750 jobs were to become redundant within 2 years.
