Nexen history 

Nexen Tire Corporation simply known as Nexen is a tire manufacturer founded in 1942 under the name, Heung-A Tire Company, Nexen Tire Co. Korean brand has headquarters in Yangsan, South Gyeongsang Province and Seoul in South Korea. In 2000 the company changed its name from Woosung Tire to Nexen Tire Corporation. 

Some notable events in Nexen history were: 

  • 2006- the year when Nexen had completed development on the new UHP and Winter LTR/SUV pattern.  

  • After one year the company had a big demand, they opened a manufacturing plant in Qingdao, China. 

  • In 2012 was opened a third factory in Changnyeong. The purpose of this facility has to attain an annual output of 10 million units until 2015 and 20 million units by 2018. Currently, it is one of the largest and advanced tire manufacturing facilities in the world. 

After a few years Nexen's domestic market share increased from 8% to 20%, with annual sales exceeding $600 million. The Korean company has over 4,200 employees, exporting to over 120 countries.
